Working in South Africa as an Art Director or Set Designer it is more often than not required of you to oversee the manufacturing of your set, including the brief and costing to the set builders and scenic painters, the technical and engineering assembly, the managing within the timeline to finish off the entire project within budget.

Equally to Art Direction and Set Design this is most probably the other discipline of the film industry in which I have the most experience. Having worked as a Set Builder, Props maker and Scenic painter for many years I still do not shy away from physically getting involved in set construction. If anybody does not know how to achieve what I expect from them, it is time for me to roll up those sleeves and show him/her how to do it. Often to great admiration of the team.

My knowledge and speaking of Sesotho (Locally) as well as French (Internationally) has been a great tool to manage most construction jobs with great success.
